Active Duty live in AZ, but taxes are in WA?

After reading many, many sites and many comments on this board, I think I know that I need to file CH7 in WA (home of residency - due to active duty service) even though we live in AZ. My question is, can an AZ BK lawyer do this? Or do we have to get a WA lawyer?

Another question would be, we have two deeded timeshares that are killing us. One we pay taxes on (out of CA) and one we do not (out of NV) - can we surrender them for a DIL during a CH7?

We live in AZ, but do not pay taxes here (as we pay in WA) and do not own a house here, but due to AZ law our vehicles are registered here.

You really need to contact and attorney in your area that is a Trustee if possible.
Since you are military and active in another state, but yet hold Washington residency, more than likely you will have to file in Washington. This also depends on how long you have been in Arizona.

You might strike it lucky and be able to file in Arizona using the Federal exemptions instead of state exemptions. But only an attorney will know the guidelines for military personnel.

As far as your timeshares, you should be able to just walk away from them if your filing a Chapter 7.

We're AD...resident of NV and stationed in KS. Our atty disregarded the home of residency. To him it was just a matter of if we had been in KS long enough to file here or there. We ended up having to use NV (you still file with a local lawyer- they just have to use another state's exemptions)
