I'm Just Sick...Is it too late???

    Well,

The stimulus money hit the bank today. $1800.00 of it.

Our attorney did not use all of our $4000 wildcard exemption for our case.

We were told to relinquish our money and my husband took the certified check over to the attorney today.

Is it too late to ammend our petition to include this as an exemption??

    I'm just sick about this...

Hell no, you can amend your petition ANY time before discharge. If you have not been discharged, have your attorney file the amended schedule of assets with the proper exemption.

      Thanks

      SWEET!!

      Thanks HHM...you're the best.

I looked through our petition again...we exempted the 336 dollars we had in our account the day of filing, 1,000 for household, 1000 for a vehicle we own outright and 280 in household goods.

We still have enough to claim our 1800 for our stimulus money to be saved?

I'll call them on Monday. I wonder how much they're going to charge me to amend my petition??

THEY should have thought about this in the first place.

I think it is 26 bucks to ammend and I hear it is a one time fee. Someone varify as I am learning by my own hard knocks too. I just got my 2007 tax return from my CPA. I cannot believe it as I owe IRS 20,000 now and got billed 9,000 more for 2007. I don't declare income tax on S.S. as we need every penny. So I pay the Piper. So I mailed the return in with the stub stapled to the IRS statement of bankruptcy they sent to me to stop paying my tax payments until the 7 is over with. Now I owe them 29K.

The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

It's only 26$ if you amend your petition to add a creditor...otherwise, the court does not charge anything to amend your petition.

I'm curious. How does one get $1800 stimulus payment? I thought it was $600 per filer, $1200 if you were married filing jointly. Do people with children get $600 extra, or what?

$600 for adults and $300 a child We received $1800 also 2 adults and 2 kids. I thought I would get 2100 because we have 3 kids but shes 17 and they have to qualify for the child tax credit to be eligible. Dragonnfly
