    Question Reimbursement From Employers

I spoke to my lawyer today and it will be two or three weeks before I get filed, which means the month of May will be included.

I am receiving heavy reimbursement deposits for mileage this month. Is this going to be included as income? I would definitely still qualify for a chapter 7 but it will look like a spike in income.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

My understanding is that reimbursements are not income. My husband received two company checks from their bookkeeping dept (not through payroll checks) to reemburse him for two business trips where he'd paid for the airplane tickets and meals out of pocket, using his personal credit card. One trip was approx $300, the other just over $1,000. It still boggles my mind that he went along with paying for those trips like that. But, anyway, I did not include those two checks as income.
04/04/08- Notice of deficiency balance due from a repo. 04/18/08- Fico scores w/repo listed: EXP 624, TRAN 610, EQU 610. 04/19/08- Found this forum. 04/24/08- Retained attorney for a chapter 7, filing singly. 5/5/08- Turned in bk paperwork to atty. 5/27/08- Date set for reviewing paperwork.

Good To Know, Bluebonnet, Thank you!

Mine come separate from payroll too, but they are direct deposited so am worried about them when and if I have to provide my bank statements.

I have always only kept records up until the time I received a reimbursement, and then I deleted them. Also what I don't have is receipts for gas versus the cents per mile that they actually allot me. Of course, this is also supposed to cover depreciation on the car.

The deposits are easily distinguished from regular payroll though so hopefully will be okay.

Any chance the accounting dept at your workplace can give you some documentation, such as an reembursed expense statements or copies of checkstubs indicating what its for, or something along those lines? Worth a try at least, just to put your mind at ease.
