    "big bank" store cards

I know that the "big banks" (chase, citi...) are generally not bk friendly but what about the store cards that they offer...like kohls, toys r us...etc

Also I BK'd my auto loan with chase....do you think they would ever do another auto loan or any type of cc with me again?

Lost cause - I think hell will freeze over before those two ever approve you again - even for store cards.

I agree with magyar - there are some banks (Chase is definately one of them) that will not grant credit ever again if you file BK and include them. This goes beyond the 7 to 10 years on your credit report - they blacklist you forever on their records. There are BK friendly banks - GE Money, HSBC and WFFNB are three of them; we have obtained an Old Navy account and Boscov's account since discharge, including PayPal Buyer Credit, each of which is through one of those banks. We were declined for a Kohl's charge (Chase) but shortly thereafter approved for Boscov's (HSBC). But remember we are almost two years beyond our discharge and have very high credit scores now. Chase was included in our Chapter 13 filing as a Mastercard.

Well I guess that means no more chase cards for us! Oh well, at this point it doesn't really matter to me. Here lately moneys been tight and I have thought if I had a card I'd be charging, so I'm glad I don't. Interesting to know though. Won't apply for one with them so we don't have to be humiliated when they turn us down.

Strange thing with Chase. I filed Chapter 7 Bk in Sept. 2005, I had a Chase Sony Visa card. They are very bitter. As far as offering me credit.

However every quarter I received pre-approved offers for $300K mortgages and every month pre-approved offers for student loans. But they won't issue me another credit card. Not even a T.J. Maxx store card.

That's because your name is on all sorts of lists that get sold around, especially the student loan ones...you can blame the school you went to or are still in and/or the financial aid office for that. My daughter gets tons of them also but not prior to starting college. Guess who sells your name? :-) Preapproved means nothing because you still have to apply for the loan/card and they check your credit. They just send them to thousands and thousands of people hoping to get bites now and then.

Chase is one of the creditors who will never ever approve credit to you again since you filed even when the BK is off your credit reports in 10 years. Once you file and include them or any affiliated card in your filing, that is it.

AMEX is another one that is bitter about bankruptcy.
Once you file they will NEVER allow you to get an AMEX card. Except - you can get on your spouse's account, if he or she has good credit and they have one. But you can never get your own AMEX after filing Ch. 7.
