Our credit reports are really messed up! Most of the companies are reporting either 90 -120 days late or charged off.
We were discharged in January 07. I have Multiple Sclerosis and in need of adding a first floor bedroom so I do not have to climb the stairs and be in pain. We approached several lending companies including our mortage holder and they said because the mortgage was included in the bankruptcy they could not help. We paid our mortgage ontime even before the due date and have never been late. So how was our mortgage included?
Also the only lead we got was from Beneficial Finance and after reading complaints against them we didn't even bother.
I know we did wrong with doing a bankruptcy but with my husband's divorce and mine it was our only way. Before bankruptcy we were NEVER late with a payment but had too much debt.
Now we need a home equity loan and can not obtain one. It seems to us that we are using our own money so why wouldn't it be easier. I mean it's not like we can do another bankruptcy anytime soon.
If anyone knows of any lenders that could help us please let me know. We really don't want to add on but we have no other choice with my progressive disease.
Thanks
