I am so relieved. My attorney was paid up and everything was updated with him, and I was able to file yesterday.

Now the wait begins. My payment plan is proposed to be $300 per month. I hope that sticks!!

Wow - your post brought back memories to when I filed.

And although every case is different and you've probably read these things elsewhere on this forum - I wanted to give you a little information on my process went.

I filed on 11/2007, had my 341 meeting in 2/2008 and was confirmed just earlier this month. The trustee initially objected to my petition because I needed to file additional information. But once he received that information - that objection was dropped and I was confirmed a little over a month later.

So if your petition is anything like the norm - the hard part is over. You probably won't have to appear at your confirmation hearing either. It will just take some time but try to start resting at night and adjust to the change in lifestyle.

Living within a chapter 13 bankruptcy is difficult but not nearly as difficult as living with the struggle to make minimum payments to all your creditors (I assume your bankruptcy included unsecured credit card debt) because again, like the norm - most bankruptcy filings do.

I hope you're relived and won't have any problems at your 341 meeting. They REALLY are over with in just a few minutes. Of those I watched before I was called up and including myself - no one was drilled. Every was just asked basic questions.

The lady that went up immediately before me did have a lot of questions asked about her property and someone from the mortgage company was there and asked a few questions - but nothing terrible. She was prepared and had all the answers.

Thanks for the feedback Busby. I hope mine's cut and dry. It's pretty vanilla, as my attorney says. All my payment will be to credit cards. I am paying all secured debt outside the plan because I was not behind on any.

Boy are you right about the plan being way better than living month to month wondering how I was going to make the minimum payments and still eat and drive to work. As stressful as this whole process has been, and I'm sure there's more to come, I know that this was the right decision.
