Just got discharged last week. Anyway, I have 2 student loans from Sallie Mae that was sold to another company. I think USA funds or Student loan funds, inc. Anyway, it says "included in Bankruptcy".
Did I get lucky and they where included in the chaper 7? Or can i expect a phone call from them now that I'm discharged?
Thanks
They are not discharged. When it comes to student loans, the burden is on the debtor to bring an adversary proceeding to prove the student loans can be discharged.

Actually, HHM, they could have been discharged. I had a Sallie Mae loan for some "continuing education", not occupation oriented, that went away in the bankruptcy. I assumed as you state that it was not dischargeable. The balance was relatively low, and after the discharge, I was going to pay it off just so I did not have to think about it anymore and every time a called for a payoff amount I was told that the info was not available because of the BK. I finally contacted Sallie Mae customer advocate department and was told that, in fact, the loan had been discharged but they would gladly take my money and I was given the address as to where to send the check. I did not send the check. :)

sorry to bring up an old thread but just saw this. Why would Sallie Mae sell the debt if it cannot be discharged? Doesn't make sense to me.
