Got Capital One Auto loan...new car!

Tried to get a loan by myself, but couldn't. Needed a cosigner. At the Toyota dealer, wouldn't approve me, even with the cosigner.

Went on Lendingtree.com Came back with 2 bids, but only Capital One Auto came through.

I got approved for $17,500 at 6.86% for 5 years.

At the dealership, they tried to give me the bait and switch and tell me my actual rate was going to be closer to 10%.

I called up Capital One on the spot and put the rep on speakerphone. Set the financial people straight!

Otherwise, I was going to walk away.

They gave me the car, even though I won't get my "blank check" for 3-5 days. Interesting feeling to drive away in a new car with $200 down.

    Yippieeeee!

Congrats! Did you need a cosigner with Capitol one or no? Just wondering b/c we may be out to get another car soon too.

When my wife's car died last Aug. I applied for the Cap1 blank check loan and was denied due to recent bk. I was about 6 weeks short of the 2 year mark of filing.
The next day, my wife {who didn't file} and I applied jointly with her as primary though, we used my banking info. We asked for $10K and were approved for $12.5K for 48 months at 8.20%. This was for a 06 model and reflects a .25% lower rate by agreeing to an automatic debit from my checking account.

I definately needed the cosigner. My cosigner's credit rating was around 820. So there wasn't too many issues. However, Toyota financial turned us down. So that's when I got on Lendingtree.com
