Hello Forum Family,
I rarely post anymore as my life has been very hectic the last 18 months or so. We have moved--renting a place now and will hopefully close on the sale of our house next week. We abandoned the house several months ago.
Last Nov. my aunt passed away and her estate just settled. I inherited a decent sum of money which will more than pay off the BK. I called my attorney's office and asked for a payoff and when she told me the figure it was more than I thought. The main reasons were that the system was not showing a payment from my husband's employer and the IRS had not reported that they had applied our stimulus check to our back taxes. My question is this: Do I subtract the payment from my husband's employer and the amount of the stimulus check from the payoff figure the attorney quoted or do I just send it in like she said and wait for the refund from the Trustee?
Anyone ever have this happen?
Hope everyone here is doing well. I am so grateful that this nightmare is about to end and I can get on with rebuilding my credit and saving money. This has been a painful experience, but I have also experienced tremendous growth.
I'm also getting ready to change jobs. I had so hoped that the job I took almost two years ago would have been my last, but I cannot work for someone who is constantly berating and belittling me--stuff they do borders on being illegal and that combined with no opportunity for advancement or good benefits are reasons enough to leave. I dread the thought of another change, but I'll make it.
Sorry so long. Peace and blessings to you all!
