Discharged last month and I have a question

My bankruptcy was discharged on 6/1 and I am not looking to get a credit cards any time soon but I am looking to get a new cable service because of the changes with the TV in February. They will of course have to do a credit check but I don't know how long I should wait. I don't have to do it right this minute but I don't want to wait until February either.

    Please help

You could be upfront and let them know the situation. Some of the utilities will also let you get service as long as you keep a CC on file for security if you have one.

Me, I'd hang out til 90 days has passed. It's not like you are out trying to rack up credit, after all...it's cable, and alot of times these inquiries are 'soft' inquiries.

The cable company will most likely run your credit and politely let you know the balance owed for the installation and first month before anyone even comes out. We filed Ch 7 6/08, moved and had cable installed in 8/08. We pre-pay each month (instead of paying at the end of each month as I had always done before) but I had no problem at all getting cable or any other utility. And, the customer service reps were all very professional and polite and did not even mention that I needed to pre-pay due to my credit (not like it's a surprise to me, but it's also not nice to be reminded of it!)
