    Be careful for this one!!!!!!!!

Hi all, Well we stopped paying our CC's and now we are getting calls from one credit card company. Not quite sure who it is. It think its BOA. They have been leaving messages on my machine saying, that we were just approved for a case advance and that all i have to do is call back this number and this extension and the money will be deposited within 48 hours. 15,000.00. Wow! Huh???? What a tactic move. Like they would approve me for a case advance when I haven't paid them this month. HAHA.. But, you know someone who is desperate would maybe fall for this. Needless, to say we have had a few a day and hubby and I laugh. Its good that out of a collection call that we can find some humor in it instead of getting irratated and nervous. I just wanted to let everyone know that this must be a new practice. Not sure if its legal, but I guess they figure someone might call them back and then they will hit you with this big bill.

If you jot down the number from your caller ID or look it up on your phone history if you can do that you can easily find out who it is. Could be scammers, telemarketers also - who knows. But that is a funny coincidence that it is occurring after you stop your payments.

We have gotten similar calls and mailings from B of A, citi and Countrywide wanting to offer consolidation loans and refis at low rates. I almost think it's more of a ploy for information --to see what's going on.. since they know we are late on 2 mortgages. Questions about your finances will give them a heads up on the future of their accounts.. Pretty smart.

You can google just about every bank/collections number and find out who is calling you.

My Experience with BofA (Collections and Bankruptcy)

My husband and I filed 6 different Bank of America loans/CC's, and found that they were the easiest to work with during the collection process, the BK, and reporting accurately to our credit after the discharge.

The BofA Reps were so respectful and understanding, they really tried to offer any kind of modification that I was interested in to try to collect SOME payment. They never said no to anything, and all of the Reps were very knowledgable and polite. I eventually told them we just couldn't do it, and would prefer some privacy from collection calls while we pondered credit counseling or bankruptcy. They stopped calling upon our request, and started sending mail correspondance only. Once we did file, they reported immediately to our credit bureaus, accurately - the first time. I was really impressed!

We still have our checking through them, and they still treat us very respectfully (even though we discharged about $80,000 in debt through them).
