    sol on checking acct

can someone tell me what the sol would be on checking accts. in California? are they considered open or written contracts?
in 2002 i had a Wells Fargo checking acct and the nearest branch was over a 100 miles away. i had dealings with fedex and they automatically deducted shipping from my acct. they hit me with a bunch of small surplus charges and caused negatives balances and got many nsf charges. now a collection agency bought acct and is trying to collect on over 800 dollars. mostly all of it is nsf charges, as they (Wells fargo)would not close acct with a negative balance and kept adding charges every two weeks or so. i am completely judgement proof right now and according to credit report this will drop off next spring.but was wondering if i had sol defense if they bothered to sue
