Recent College Grad - Too Much Debt - What to Do?

    Hello:

I hope someone can help me. I graduated from college last Spring with a mountain of credit card debt ($50K+). I have been working as an intern this past year and I am not making ends meet.

My last semester of school I fell behind with creditors. I contacted several credit counseling services and they wanted payments way more than I could afford. I contacted a debt management service and they ripped me off. I joined a reputable credit management service (Better Business Bureau) and I have been doing my best to put $500 bucks aside while they negotiate settlements with creditors.

I have one creditor that is going through a legal firm. They have sent a total of 3 letters including todays letter. Now they are threatening to file a lawsuit against me and have attached a copy fo the court papers they intend to file if I don't work something out with them. My debt negotiation company has been on it and I don't understand this last letter.

I am married (2 years now) and my wife has excellent credit. She bought a house before we married (we live in Texas) and I am not sure if I should file banckruptcy and how that would affect her. My job does not pay anything and she is covering all of the bills around the house and does not have anything extra to help me.

If someone could give me advice I would greatly appreciate it.

    Sincerly,
    Confused13

You should contact a local BK attorney.

As for your spouse, you can file BK seperate from your spouse, so it won't effect her credit at all.

i don't think it will affect your wife's financial records

maybe talk to a bankruptcy specialist or counsellor
