What to bring , in a nutshell

1- I will bring a carefully prepared binder with tabs separating copies of secured and unsecured bills going back one year as well as utilities and two years tax returns along with 1099's and W-2's. definitely more than I will probably be asked for in order to:

    A- Have peace of mind
    B- Be prepared

    BUT.................

I will keep it int he car.
Very fortunate in the grand scheme of things but have learned my lesson.

I think I mentioned that in my law firm is a Chapter 7 BK trustee, and that I do work for them 2 days a week. In all the time I have worked with them, never in their history have they asked for documents at the 341 meeting. There is absolutely no time to review any of it. If the Trustee wants something they will send a request days or weeks later. But Good Luck anyway!

BKPara is correct, trustees will typically ask for stuff in advance of the 341 or after it. Most trustees have a standard operating procedure for documents. Some will send out a letter with a request, some have a standing request that all attorney's are aware of etc.

The minimum you must bring is a photo ID and proof of your social security number. Also, it is a good idea to have your most recent tax return.

Your most recent tax return, by law was supposed to be mailed or electronically sent to the Bk Trustee, along with your last 60 days of pay stubs, before the 341. If not they can file a motion to show cause(they rarely do, but they can).

You are a wealth of knowledge.

I am sure the board cannot thank you enough.

Thanks for the compliment LaJazz, but recently I have been getting questioned on my integrity by some of the so called "GURU" 's on here. I guess I have too much knowledge of BK for their liking.

Disclaimer demanded by the "Guru" 's : I am not an actor on TV, but I play a BK Paralegal in real life. Nothing I say should or be construed as legal advice, or really anything but entertainment. Furthermore a Guru on here just means they post a lot, it has no bearing on their knowledge. Please seek out professional help as is some of the "Guru"'s should seek out psychological help

That would look fabulous as your disclaimer and would show exactly what you are all about! :-) Because if you continue posting, you will eventually become a Guru also and your disclaimer will apply to yourself!

Well, you keep the info coming and with all due respect to the "Guru's" you let the board decide the value of your contributions.

I for one, welcome it. As long as it is factual then what's the harm?

                    Thanks again.

Our Trustee had our file at his fingertips. All we brought were our DLs, SS cards, and marriage license because we use different surnames.

As I've posted in other 341 threads, we had a telephonic 'Dress Rehearsal' the week prior in our attorney's office. There was a brief run-through by the Trustee's assistant, and she asked most of the same questions he did the week later. I suppose if there were any 'chinks' in our paperwork, they would have been found then. This is where we were told the need for the marriage license.

                      Good luck.
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I brought everything but the kitchen sink to my 341...nearly threw my back out. A huge briefcase filled with all kinds of bills and stuff. I think my attorney was probably laughing at me behind my back (and probably some other people too.) It was a total waste. I don't think I showed anything but my driver's license. Trustee seems to have everything at their fingertips online.

If you have an atty that is worth the money you paid him/her, all you will need is your dl and ss card. Your atty should have the rest with them.

During our 341 a question came up on our bank statement, my atty graciously handed it to me. A question came up regarding dividends, my atty graciously handed me our money market statement.

She was worth every penny we paid her because of the stress of putting together and dragging files of docs would have caused me and my wife.

I hope that if anyones atty tells them to just bring dl and ss please listen to them. Dont put yourself through worry you dont need, you are paying your atty to have your back

Unfortunately, they seem to be a rare find.

I did see in your posts that you had a jack@$% and I can understand how you feel. Paying the kind of money they want you could string him/her up by ......
