Hello. I do not want to and can't afford to pay a company for "Credit Repair". I go for my meeting next week, so will be discharged within the next couple of months. How and when should I start reparing my credit report? Should I dispute the bankruptcy (for "proof") after it has been discharged, and other charge offs and credit cards on there? I will probably ask my lawyer for a copy of my credit report (she got one) when I talk to her. Any suggestions? Thank you very much

Is there anything you can leave off the bankruptcy that would be within your budget to make 100% payments to? My wife and I are leaving our mortgage off and a new car purchase our lawyer suggested we get which will help build credit.
If not, you might be able to apply for a high intrest credit card after filling in order to build your credit.01/17/2009 Filed

Let me see if I understand your question.....you want to dispute your actual bankruptcy and accounts related on your credit report? If so, why? If the BK is "real", then you're wasting your time and wasting time of the credit bureaus.
On the other hand........
Credit repair is correcting errors by disputing accounts that are not accurate (i.e., accounts included in bankruptcy and accounts that have been closed). Another way of credit repair is to rebuild by using credit wisely after your discharge. And most of all, time.
You shouldn't have to pay anyone to do credit repair for you. You can simply use the free credit report services available (i.e., annualcreditreport.com) and do your own credit repair. Do not hire someone or do yourself, the act of disputing a BK and charge-offs over and over in order to get the BK and charge offs removed. This is not very wise. There are "companies" out there that claim they can get your BK removed, but for the most part, they are considered scams.Last edited by BassBoy; 08-14-2008, 11:22 AM.Bankruptcy History:

to tell you the truth, this can not be repaired immediately. you start paying your bills on time maybe a liitle early than last date. always try to pay little more than the minimum amout and that too before the due date. this is the only way by which you can really think of improving your credit.

debrat - there are numerous postings on here as to cleaning up credit reports after discharge. Do a search and you will find all sorts of advice. The best thing to do is to wait until about 3 months or so after discharge and obtain copies of all 3 of your credit reports from the 3 major credit reporting agencies. Obtaining them prior to that time will just cause you more work because the information will change as your discharge is reported. BassBoy gives you excellent advice._________________________________________
