    Car Dilema

    Hey guys,
I'm not even sure when we will file, It could be 6-12 months out unless we get a deficiency judgement from the 2nd mortgage sooner.

First, I need to get another vehicle - my son needs to get to work & school. This would be a hoopty for under $1000, DH has already found an '88 4Runner on Craigslist that he's going to see this weekend. I've saved some cash and could buy it with that, but I'm worried about it. Should we use cash, or get a loan?

I also want to get rid of my expensive, upside down 2007 Mazda and I don't know when I should do it. I don't want to reaffirm this vehicle, but that's the only choice I have besides surrendering it. I'm watching my credit sink lower each month with this mortgage business going on and I feel like I'm running short on my options. Should I borrow $10-$15K and get the 2 cars that way?

I think I figured out I should keep the Mazda until we file for the means test. So, buying another cheap car might be good.

If you file chp 13 and you dont think your car will last 5 years, talk to your lawyer about getting a new one and including it in your repayment before you file. It will be difficult to get a new car during your repayment period from what I have been told.
