I still say...it's easier to rebuild when you've filed Ch.7 instead of Ch. 13. Chapter 7 lingers longer on your credit report, but its a cleaner slate than Ch. 13...in my humble opinion. That has been my experience and it seems that the posts here support that. I am assuming most have filed Ch. 7 given the short timeframes between the filing date and and discharge date.
I understand that the state of your finances BEFORE the BK have a lot to do with it, but I had great credit before I hit a bad spot and filed in 2004. I have been careful with my credit since my discharge 2 yrs ago, and I still own the same home. My oldest tradelines are 11 years old...and I've established new credit in the past 2 years...no lates or unpaid. Still, the scores are very slowly creeping up. Just my observation...
