How my 341 went in NYC this week

I had my 341 meeting this past monday (Aug. 15th) in NYC in Manhattan. The time of my meeting was 11:30 but I didn't see the trustee until around 12:30 - there were 2 cases ahead of me that took a long time. In one case, apparently a creditor showed up and in another case, former employees showed up ( the owner of a spa filed bankruptcy and the ex-employees were there as crediotrs looking to get paid). My meeting took only 5 minutes. The trustee looked at my state ID, my SS card, asked my attorney his name, swore me in and asked the following - did I list all my debts and expenses, did I get any inheritance, insurance money, etc. during the past 4 months and am I filing any law suits, etc. He was very cordiall and didn't ask for any bank statements, W-2, tax returns, pay stubs, etc. Hopefully,he wont request anything down teh line. My attorney seemed to think it would go smoothly as he said I should probably get discharge papers in 3-4 months. What is interesting to me is that there was no real security in the area where my 341 was held. It was held in lower Manhatatn around teh Wall street area - which is not too far from where I work and which is not too far from the site where the WTC buildings were. Well on the streets, there is alot of police protection around but not in the building where my meeting was held. I just had to show the building security guard my ID and went right up to the 2nd floor. There were no security guards or any kind of detectors on the 2nd floor and we just went into the hearing room. People had their cell phones but used them outside the room in the hallways. I guess they figured ... who would want to terrorize peopel who file for bankruptcy.

Was this in a Federal Courthouse??? Usually there are metal detectors......
Glad you meeting went so well, you may be okay and have your discharge in 60 days..........in no creditors object.

    Keep us posted,

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
