new here, not sure where to start

to start with, does anyone here recommend filing myself or is that just a big waste of time and effort?
do I HAVE to have a lawyer file?

what are the rules/guidelines for FLorida?
where can I get more basic info?

    that's enough for now,

Without knowing specifics of income, home ownership, assets, automobiles it is impossible to say. Without giving names or account info. you have to provide some specific information in a clear and well written format. Only then will a moderator or experienced soul be able to help you. Every situation is different.

Legally, you do not need to hire a lawyer, you can represent yourself in bankruptcy. However, whether that is advisable or not depends on your circumstances.
