    Experian problem

I filed for Chapter 7 back in June and had been very good watching my spending. All my bills had been paid in time and my remaining student loans have been paid early. Anyway the last couple of months I started receiving preapproved credit card applications from Capital One and Wamu. A couple weekends ago I decided to apply for Capital One online but didnt get approved or denied. They had to make a decision and would let me know 5-10 business days. I decided to try the Wamu and got approved right away. I got my card in the mail early this week, but hadnt received anything from Capital One until today. I got denied for "not meeting the minimal age requirement." What? I am 38 years old! The letter said it was from Experian but didnt include any information on Experian but did include Transunion and Equifax. I was able to call Transunion and Equifax to get a free copy of my credit report but had the hardest time with Experian. I went to their site and they have no number. I tried calling 1-888-EXPERIAN but no answer. I entered all my information on their site to request my report and was told it could not be completed that I have to mail my request to them with government id, utility bill, and copy of rejection letter.
I know I am rambling but has this happened to anyone before? Should I mail a copy of my driver's license to Capital One? My student loans, which should appear on my credit report, are over 10 years old. How old was I when I went to college, 7?

Did you accidentally transpose a number in the year area? Since you are 38 yrs old you must have been born in 1970. Did you accidentally type in 1990?
As far as Experian is concerned - all you really need to do is send them a letter like this:
        To whom it may concern:
Capital One turned down my application for one of their credit cards. They cited your organization as the one furnishing my crediit history.
By law I am now entitled for a free credit report from you.
        Send me one!!
        Sincerely,

The law says that you're entitled to a free eport. There is no law mandating you to furnish anything when requesting a free report.

Yes I don't know if I transposed a number, anything is possible, but I am sure I entered my information correctly. I know I entered it correctly on their site but it wouldn't allow me to pull my report. The rejection letter says the following:
Thank you for your recent request for a credit card issued by Capital One. After reviewing your application and/or information obtained from consumer credit report(s), we have determined that we cannot grant your request for credit at this time.
The reason(s) for not approving your request are:
          • Based on the credit report from Experian for XXXX, applicant does not meet the minimum age requirement

On the bottom it also states if I have additional information I wish to submit to them (Capital One) that might influence their decision to feel free to write to them.

So I don't know if it was an Experian error (since I have never been denied for that) or just a Capital One error.

I am sending all the documents requested to Experian tomorrow so this may get correct, although I dont know if they will correct it or just send me a copy of my report. Should I send a copy of my driver's license to Capital One? I hate now having a rejection on my credit report.

Excuse me ‘jen: Are you not filing a chapter 7 or did I misread? Why are you concerned about credit, or credit cards? None of my business I know, but, we are all here to help as we are all here for the same reason. Chuck those d*mnd credit cards, what got you here to 7? Only my opinion. ‘Hub

Yes I had filed for Chapter 7 in March and got dishcarged in May or June. Honestly I don't want to remember. I have lived on cash and have done very well. I still have a studen loan that I have been paying and have never been late and am almost done paying it off since I have been paying way more than my minimum every month. I want to be totaly debt free. Unfortunately, credit is important so restarting credit is important to me. I will not use it to buy things I cannot afford. I learned my lesson and would only use it, if I already have the money, and to rebuild my creditworthiness.
