So, what's your highest PACER bill?

Mine just came in for the 3rd quarter of the year. I've been using PACER since 7/18/2008.

My bill is $240.72.

I'm a pro se filter and have done tons of research on cases across not only my District, but other Districts across the country. I'm submitting the bill to the Court as an administrative expense... along with my other $566.00 in administrative expenses from mailings such as postage, return receipts, certified mailings, overnight mailings. It also includes my recent appraisal ($300).

LOL. My bill is $1.42 that's incurred from July 18th... I guess I just don't use it all that much..

I got my bill. It was exactly $10. And they deferred it.... Because it wasn't enough!

Did you have to pay your $1.42? :)

24.00 - just received today.

I found it funny that my brother and grandfather both filed in 2005 with the same attorney that I am using. I found this out when I did a search in PACER for cases my attorney has handled and saw their names in the list.

Neither of them told me that had filed for BK. I won't mention to them that I know.

WOW, I am a paralegal and my bill since Jan 1, 2008 is only $38.00!! That is a huge bill considering it is only $.08 a page. WOW

Nope, haven't recieved a bill but I check it from time to time. Once I get past confirmation I'l probably rarely check it at all. Only if I get a dreaded letter in the mail..

I am a pro se filer and needed to do extensive research for my case. I also get in an average of 1 claim per day, and check that daily.

Just looking at my docket costs $0.32 now. I do look at the date (at the top), but this does not work for claims.

I also rant some HUGE queries by mistake... putting in the name of a prominent BK attorney!

If I recall, PACER only charges for the first 30 pages of a document so your maximum exposure is $2.40 at any given query.

Or is 40 pages and $3.20?

Or is 40 pages and $3.20?It only charges for the first 30 pages of a document, but NOT A QUERY! I learned that the hard way. I paid $6.64 twice for two dumb queries...

18:33:51 83 R1 Search <-- charged me for 83 pages!That day, I got charged for 166 pages at $13.28. It wasn't the first time I ran a search by that Attorney's name!!! I forgot.

And yes, it will charge you for long queries. I do notice that it only charges for the first 30 pages of documents.

That's odd. As I said earlier, I did a query on my attorney and much more than 30 pages came up. I was only charged for the 30 @ $2.40. I wonder what I did differently?

$308.00, didn't realize you got charged for just the search, thought it was for printing

I had been checking the status of my account charges and the last I saw it was only supposed to be about $30, but I was billed $91.84. Lessen learned. Thank goodness my case is almost confirmed and I only check once a week or so now.

I think I have everyone beat :)...last quarter (April) ours was $556. However, since it was accrued prior to filing, we were able to list Pacer as a creditor.

My pacer bill was at around 11.00 last time I was in there and I haven't gotten a bill.

Should I get a bill or will they just debit my account?

Hi,
I just signed up for Pacer (I haven't filed yet), but I wanted to check out the cases my attorney has worked on. How do you do an attorney search on Pacer? I should be receiving my pacer info in 7 days.

Thanks for the help! :)

Thanks for the help! :)Head what I write below...

DO NOT EVER PERFORM A PACER SEARCH ON A PROMINENT ATTORNEY!!!

That's all... you'll have a really big money hit. I paid $13.00+ for two searches against a prominent attorney in this area (who had like 7,000 cases in the system).

The easier way to do this, is to look at the Court's "calendar". This is usually on the main District website (not in PACER). Search the court's calendar for a few months back until the current date. Then in that result, write down the case numbers of your attorney, or any other case that "looks" interesting. Then do your lookups in PACER by the case number!

What I do is, if I'm in court that day or going to see the Clerk of the Court, I'll research cases for my favorite judge THAT day. I'll then grab all the relevant documents (pleadings) being heard. I'll print them and bring them with me and sit in and listen and take notes.

Okay, I'm weird... but I'm a pro se filer and getting a feel for my "favorite" judge. :)
