Just beginning to rebuild after Discharge

I have read many posts in the Rebuilding Credit section, but not sure I have found my answer. I was discharged and closed in September. My score is 610 after BK. Don't really want new credit, but applied for Orchard Bank MasterCard and was approved online for $750. Won't use it other than to rebuild credit and payoff each month.

I have pulled all 3 credit reports and found that Macy's is listed in my "potentially negative information" under 4 separate accounts and each one has status of IIBK. But, I haven't had a Macy's card for years. I thought the accounts were closed long ago and the balances were all $0. The problem is my credit report is showing 4 of these accounts that had no activity and $0 balance as IIBK. Again, I thought these accounts were closed long ago and there were never included in the creditor matrix for my Ch. 7 BK. Does it hurt my credit with these extra phantom accounts being listed as IIBK?

Any recommendations on books for cleaning up credit after BK? Most everything is being reported correctly in my credit report.

    Thanks,

The number of accounts included wouldn't usually effect your credit, so I would presume that you could leave it alone. I would suggest to have this corrected though because these accounts were in good standing and prior credit history is a biggie to help get your credit restored more quickly.

You can simply dispute these inaccuracies.......you may have to call the CRA's directly because I do not recall a dispute option as "Not Included in BK" and they may be able to help you get this cleared up.

Credit cleaning and repair is not too difficult to do and my advice is to do as much as you can with the least amount of expense to you. DO NOT pay some service to do what you can do yourself.
