Pre-Farewell, HHM

I joined this forum on Deceber 27, 2004, and I have since made 1500 posts (1501 including this post). I did not start this forum, but found it to be a nice community and lazar and todd have done a good job getting the word out and the community as a whole is very helpful. They made me a moderator after they recognized my frequent contributions.

Based on the comments of many of the members, it looks like this forum has been helpful. I hope my contributions have been helpful to many of you (despite my frequent mispellings :) ) I check this forum daily and try to respond as needed, its practically part of my daily routine and I feel strange if I don't check the forum. There are a lot of great people, and as much as I hope I have contributed, I have also learned much, if not more, from all of you who have shared your experiences.

With the new bankruptcy law looming, I am just not sure how helpful I can be as the new law will really change the ball game. The other irony is, I will be leaving on a 10 month vacation around the world and my flight leaves October 17 (the effective date of the new BK law). Thus, I will not have the opportunity to be very active.

I will still be around in September, but my participation will taper in Oct. I hope this forum survives the new law and that a new group of people who have experienced BK under the new law will frequent this forum and make this forum as helpful under the new law as it is now under the old law.

Anyway, this is my pre-farewell.

Hey HHM,

I just want you to know that I appreciate the advice that you have given. I too hope that you get back on here. There are so many good people on here. They are people who treat others with respect and I like that. I felt so low when I was going through my bankruptcy but the people on here make you feel like a normal, decent human being.
Have a great time on your trip!!!

Jeff

I've also been a member of this forum since Dec 2004, I enjoy your input and advise. Thanks for that very much.
As for the trip around the world, I have always wanted to do the same, I'm really jealous....:beee: Just wondering, will this be a cruise? or are you packing your backpack and taking the train? I've looked into travel by BARGE, sounds so exciting.
I too seem to be going through a lot of changes, I guess it's part of adulthood.

I'm sad to see you leave the forum! I realize I'm not much of a contributor and am more of a "forum-lurker" but you have to realize how helpful and informative you've been. Someone else said it before me about how they felt so low before finding this forum. That is so true! It is reassuring to know that we're not alone.

Enjoy your LONG vacation ... you are only paying cash while traveling ... no large amount of debt will be incurred, correct?? :D

Take care and update us on your travels!

Well, the time is almost here. I will be out of my house on Saturday and heading to California on Tuesday to stay until I leave for New Zealand on Oct. 17.

Man, I am green with envy. Say hello to Frodo, Eomir, Eowyn and King Theodun and Peter Jackson if you see him, and of course Shadowfax and Gandolf! A friend lived in Wellington (his father was a State Dept. employee) and he loved it! If you can post some photos when you get a chance!

The views displayed in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy really captured the beauty of that lovely place.

Literally, I am sure, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Enjoy!

Well, I am in CA right now, with 48 hours and counting before lift off.

Good luck to everyone with there future, and I hope some of my advice has been helpful.

To leave some parting comments...BK is not the end, but the beginning; but its only a second chance if you learn from what drove you to BK. Granted, its not all poor decision making that leads to BK, but even sudden, life, altering events, can be planned for. Start saving money, start saving money, and start saving money.

Financial freedom is probably the best kind of freedom, and remember, insanity is doing the same thing, but expecting different results.

Hello, HHM!

All the best for your travels and enjoy them at the fullest!

Some time ago I went to Auckland, New Zealand, but I couldn't go to the Under Seaquarium...so you can bet that I am dying to go there!!! So if you have time, please do me a favor and go there. It's about 15 to 30 minutes drive from downtown Auckland. When you are there, please remember me (and all of us). This would make me feel closer to that wonderful place.

Bon voyage,

Albert L., who hopes to save enough money again to travel to Auckland's Under Seaquarium anytime during his lifetime!
