    what am I supposed to do?

    We have a mobile home that we owe 23k on. We are letting it go in the bk. We do not live there, it has been for sale since May and is still for sale. It is vacant.

    We quit paying on it as soon as we realized we are filing bk. That was the November 1st payment. They have been calling relatives. We called them and told them we would pay when we can...they told us to get on foodstamps and ask the church for money. We said no we cannot pay we will when we can.

    We are filing in mid Jan. Until then, what do I do? They call me daily and leave messages...this is URGENT that you call today. They know I am not going to pay but still call and if we do not answer they start in on relatives. I have not retained the lawyer yet but should be able to by Jan 1st. Thanks

    Answer the phone and talk to them. I talk to my creditors about the weather, the ball game, whatever but I won't talk about the debt. It really drives them crazy. I always verify that I am the party they seek but really don't want to talk about the debt, how was Mr. or Ms. Debt Collector's day?

    I really love it when they tell me it is really urgent and this MUST be taken care of by 5:00 today... I get all excited and ask them what happens at 5:01? Do they turn into pumpkins? Please tell me, I'm dying to know what happens at 5:01...

        I would answer the phone every day, and tell them the same thing every day.

        Also you can have your relatives tell them they wish to not be contacted about the debt anymore and see if that works. We had the same situation, and MIL was very stern with them and told them not to contact her anymore, and it worked. Hey it's worth a shot.

          ok, makes sense. I will try that. I just get tired of telling them we don't have the money over and over. Will the lawyer tell them that we are filing and will they foreclose on us before we get the bk done?
          I really don't want a foreclosure on my report if I can help it.
