Ex-wife calls my husband and suggested he give up his parental rights to their two children.
Her rationale was that he would have more money to go towards the debt. And/or (we're not 100% sure) in exchange, she and her new husband would pay the debt that was assigned to my husband in their divorce decree.
We're really confused as to where this all came from - he has missed midweek visits (they live 60 miles away and it's not always easy to get out there), but has never, never not wanted them (contrary, we would have them more if we could!).
Apparently ex-wife talked to her attorney for over an hour and that's what they came up with. Our hope is that they are realizing the divorce debt is not a domestic support obligation and are trying to use the kids as a bargaining chip. Grasping at straws, if you will. Of course, it may not mean anything.
