    Credit Report

Just wanted to know... is it true that credit reports are free now? I thought I heard that you can get 1 free a year from the 3 major ones. I wanted to get mine, but i'm still waiting on my discharge, should i wait til then to request them or get one now?
    Thanks!

You can get it at www.annualcreditreport.com. Getting it now wouldn't be very useful if you're waiting on discharged, so waiting until after might be a good plan!

Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

If you get them now, and find you have a creditor you didn't know about, you could still amend your petition to include them before discharge.

We printed out our free reports and I was relieved to find out that I had included them all! Some had already reported as "included in bankruptcy" even though we are still waiting for our discharge.

Remember that by getting a free credit report, you waive your right to later sue the credit reporting agency for any inaccuracies, etc. You are stuck to binding arbitration in their forum of choice. If preserving the right to sue is important to you, pay for the report.
