2 Days Late on Mortgage, WAMU Calls

Hi all,

Probably looking at a Ch 7 in Feb or March for either just my husband or also including me. Letting a house go in another state that we used to live in but are renting out now since it did not sell. Husband unemployed for almost a year. Kept up with that mortgage until this month. Mortgage with WAMU, now JP Chase. Mortgage due on 12/16. Did not pay it. Today, 12/18, collection call from someone from Washington Mutual. Surprisingly fast. Surprised also person identified themselves from Washington Mutual. Isn't it JP Chase now? Really shocked it started so quickly and wonder if we should turn off our phone? I was already considering turning off the landline to save money and going cell only. What do you think?

Most Wamu's are still going by "washington mutual" even thoe they are owned by Chase. They've had their fair share of "bad" loans, so it's not surprising that they called so quickly. Most banks have internal depatments to call on late payments- before it's send to an outside agency or foreclosed on.

I've got creditors calling me left and right too. I find if your straight upfront and honest with them it helps.

I tell them how it is. I know the reason for your call, however, I apologize but I'm working on doing everything I can to square my situation away. I was just laid off and times are very tuff for me. They note the account and atleast know what the deal is. Typically I get the, "Im so sorry about your job loss." They don;t call as much anymore atleast for now.

I just hope I get a job!!!!
