Got Orchard Bank Card 30 Days After Discharge

I applied and was accepted for an unsecured Orchard Bank card about 30 days after discharge. I am greatful but quite surprised that credit would be extended so quickly which of course I will use wisely. Has anyone experienced a similar positive situation?

Creditors extend credit to you because they know you can't file bankruptcy and discharge the debt. You have to pay every dime back that you charge. You're the best person to give a credit card to.

Thank you very much lightening for that positive post.
I agree. Our attorney told us that would be the case. We have had probably 20 offers from car dealerships, in the last two weeks guaranting that we would be accepted with proof of insurance, been at the job over a year, utility bill, etc. Some did also ask for last years tax return. Also, myself or my husband get credit card offers at least every day. Our discharge was 2 weeks ago.
I read them and tore them up and threw them in the trash.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Good for you. Just curious, but why didn't you do that the first time?

Oh for God's sake, Lightning....what difference does it make why they didn't do that the first time?

Well, if you tore up the application the second time but not the first, how could the credit card issuer be responsible for your original debt? If you can tear up an application now, couldn't you then?

I don't believe any one has said 100% of the blame is on the credit card issuer. I believe that was has been said is they are somewhat responsible for encouraging people to go deeper into debt by offering credit to people who are already showing signs of trouble...

Lightening evidently you haven't read my last message to you on the locked post.
I have been very responsible with my credit for many years. Paid off numerous cards and loans. Tried to start and business and run into some bad luck and bad weather, and the death of my father. But that is my problem and not yours. I don't mind explaining why I am here. Even though I don't owe you an explanation. I would send you a "private message" to air my thoughts with you but it isn't worth the effort.
I guess you have always made the right choices. I don't mind admitting I have made mistakes. Nor am I asking you to admit yours.
I hope that before you post another reply you at least try and word your reply in a more courteous manner. Other people have feelings even if you May/maynot. Have a blessed day.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

i wish i could get one

I applied for an Orchard Bank credit card after reading your reply and I was turned down even after almost three years of being discharged. I have done nothing but clean up my credit record since my discharge so I don't understand. You must be one of the really lucky ones.

I'm not familiar w/ Orchard's practices, but the 2 questions that I thought of are:

Do you have negative accounts since the BK?
Did your BK include Household Bank? (They issue the Orchard cards.)
