Creditors that you have had trouble disputing things with

I thought it might be helpful if we all listed creditors that we have had trouble disputing things with, and what the resolve was to finally get the matter taken care of.

I had trouble with HSBC reporting my accounts as being included in bankruptcy, and showing two accounts... one of which they never bothered to remove. Transunion really gave me a lot of hassle, and it took filing a complaint with the BBB for Transunion and HSBC to get it removed finally.

Walmart and Sams Club also gave me trouble. They have continually put on my report "charge-offs" and have listed wrong dates for filing, and payoffs, etc. I recently filed another complaint with the BBB, and as of today it has been corrected to show properly. (Experian was the wrong bureau this time.)

    Hope this info helps someone!

creditors that you have trouble disputing

I just ordered my fica report again just to see if there are any changes. Experian jumped up 24 points since sept 9th. Equifax only 7 points and transunion a big fat 0. I disputed an account long since paid off in 1999 that they re-entered on my report starting 2003 and 2004 and some months with late payments.

Guess what transunion has done since then. I had a car payment with HSBC with 3 payments reported as late and now they have tacked on 4 more lates that was never on that account before. The only reason that the other 3 was reported late was because they kept transferring me to some company out in kentucky and claimed they could not see the payment. What was I suppose to do. Every month I tried to pay my bill on time and this is what became of the situation.

I am going to write a letter to the better business burea tommorrow about hsbc and transunion. I will call hsbc one more time and after that not another dogone time.
I'm gonna check the internet now to see how I should address this letter to the bbb.

just saw this post, when I recently did disputes on all three, the hardest ones I am having trouble fixing are MBNA, and Capital One. They are very stubborn that their records are absolute and correct, when I have documentation that they are not. But transunion and experian are telling me I need to dispute with creditor. We will see how that goes.

I'm having trouble with MBNA too. Apparently they purchased one of my accounts ... a credit card account that was included in bankruptcy. However, I didn't know that they purchased the account until AFTER discharge. Now, Experian states they have confirmed that MBNA has charged-off the account and it's not included in bankruptcy. I'm STEAMED!

I've disputed the account twice already with Experian and plan to send yet another dispute via certified mail tomorrow. I see that others have been successful in complaining to the BBB. Which BBB do you complain to? The only BBB that I'm aware is my local BBB ... it doesn't seem like the right place to complain to?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks!

Go to BBB.org and type in "Experian" for the company that you want to complain too. Complain to their national headquarters, which I believe is in Texas.

FYI I work for the BBB in Memphis, Tennesse(BBB of the Midsouth). I too have filed with the appropriate BBB because I cannot get Providian to report me fairly. I am also having problems with Citifinancial. They list us our account "as discharged in BK" but also says 90 days late - collections or words to that effect. I have now discovered they sold my account...how convenient. In contrast to what some of you have experienced with Trans Union they have been very helpful to me. The other two are promising results from their investigations by October 22. It is an uphill and constant battle to get our accounts reported correctly but we have to what we have to do. I had a creditor tell me if their name is on the BK list it is discharged in BK...end of discussion.

              Thanks!

Thank you for the great BBB information! I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB against Experian. While I don't believe the error lies completely with MBNA - partly because it is reflected correctly on Equifax as well as TransUnion - I didn't file a complaint against MBNA just yet, not that I won't if it comes down to it. While I think it was wrong for them to purchase an account that was clearly under the protection of bankruptcy, I want to also think that maybe my account was just lumped in a large block of "undesirable" accounts that the original creditor was selling. I really blame the original creditor. However, I'm not going to file a complaint with them because when I originally disputed the original creditor's entry on all reports to reflect the "included in BK" all CRAs deleted the creditor completely. I'm assuming it's because they sold all their consumer credit cards and just didn't reply to the CRAs.

Anyway, thanks again for the useful info. I've added the site to my Favorites!
