Has anyone been able to get decent student loans after you BK for grad school?

I don't want a private loan- the terms are crazy. But i'm going to be starting Law school in August- and will need to get loans. I haven't filed yet; but haven't applied for loans- since start is so far off.

Any experience? I'm wanting to get a Fed Stafford loan. Will they ask for a cosigner?

Federal Stafford Loans are not based on credit, so you would not require a cosigner for those. However, there is an annual limit on how much you can borrow on these. I just finished graduate school in December and I could not have more than $20,500 in Stafford loans per year. The numbers for law school might be higher (I know they are higher for medical school), but you would have to check with your school on that.

I would wait until your BK is finished before starting law school. I'm not sure how a trustee might view you taking out additional student loans during a BK process, so you might want to ask your attorney or just wait to return for a bit. When are you planning on returning to school?

I was planning on starting in November of this year. Unless i wait for another school that i would like to go to; i missed admission deadlines- so if i go there- it would be may 2010

I filed Ch. 7 during law school and never had a problem obtaining my Stafford loans.
