So I was discharged on 9\12 and on the thirteenth I recieved a letter from amex saying that due to a recent credit report that i could not use the extended payment option on my account (where you can pay certain purchases over time rather than pay them off each month) but otherwise my account would remain open. This was a huge shock to me, I was sure that as soon as they found out they would certainly close the account. I didn't report amex on my bk because my attorney said I didn't have to because I had no balance on it. has anyone experienced anything like this before?

That is not uncommon, although it is uncommon with AMEX. But generally, if a credit card did not lose any money on you because of your Bk, they will not close your account (reason being, is that you can only receive a chapter 7 dischare once every 6 years, once every 8 years under new law, so they have you for that time without risk).

That is excellent news. Don't abuse it. Amex Blue for Business is the one Card I sincerely regret losing. It had alot of benefits. Amex is "class credit". Mine is gone forever."You once asked me for advice. You want some now? Never pass up a good thing." Lieutenant Jean Rasczak, Starship Troopers

You're not kidding. I applied to a mailer for Amex 2 years ago for business purposes only and they still won't give it to me do to a 1989 bk filing. They (rightfully so) are very unforgiving.
