    Can Lexington improve credit score?

    Alright, well, my husband and I filed Bankruptsy and it was discharged back in October 2007. He still has some dings on his credit reports that drags his score down to an almost embarrassing off-the-charts score. Lexington contacted us just last night. I talked to them about it and told them I would think about it, and they said they'd call me back tonight. So I need help guys. I don't know what to do. I can't tell if they are a scam or not, everything I looked up said they were not a scam. I see mostly good things about them. I asked the guy a lot of questions, he explained it to me like this;

    They delete the items off the credit report like they were never there to begin with. Negitive items only. Items in the positive would be left alone. They go right into the bankruptsy and dispute/challenge it to get it removed as well. Without negitive items, the score would go up.

    Question for you guys;
    Is that true? The removal of negitive items will IMPROVE credit score?
    And is it also true, that without disputing (rather we did it ourselves, or through them) and paying off our debt that the negitive marks would still be on there? Just noted as paid in full/settled/however it's noted.
    I did notice that on my CR the things I did pay off, or do a settlement with, did still show as negitive marks. So I guess I believe that part.

    He said, we can cancel at anytime. So let's say we're impressed enough with the improvements, or we're not impressed at all, or nothing is happening, we can cancel, and they even back it up with a warranty. Where we'll get refunded a certain amount of money for the failed disputes.
    The gentleman also stated and reminded me that this wasn't like the bankruptsy that was going to wipe away all our current debt that somehow missed the Bankruptsy mark (my husband was very..um..unreliable with money until I hunkered down on it.). This was something that was going to remove those items off our credit report, and credit score. If we chose to end this business with L.L.F. I asked, "Would it mean that those marks would come back if we discontinued service with you?" He said No. UNLESS, we did not work to pay off those debts ourselves. As long as we work to pay off the debts, and do what the paralegal has instructed, those marks should stay off our report. They even remove the inquiries (We aqquired A LOT because of our attempts to find a loan to buy a house.) on the report/score. I was excited because we were finally getting that second chance, that real chance.

    It's one of those things that sound good, but too good to be true. I don't want to fall into a scam and ruin my life that much more. But if they CAN help, really help with the scores, I want to give it a try.
