CU demands insurance policy on repo'd car

One of my cars was repo'd on Feb 10.
I cancelled the car insurance the same day.

The CU just sent a notice demanding a copy of my insurance policy or they will charge $3,818 for a 12 months term of insurance. There is no reference thay the repo'd the car.

Also in my bank statements there is no reference that the car was repo'd. Is this normal? Should I send them a letter telling them they cannot charge me insurance because they now have the car? Should I ask for acknowledgment of the repo'd car otherwise call the police to report it stolen?

When it was repo'd, I talked to the tow truck driver, he gave me his card.

Thanks

If the car was repo'd you need to call them and tell them they have the car and it was repo'd on Feb 10th and give them the name of the company that repo'd it and name of driver. I'd then tell them that you cancelled the insurance policy when they repo'd the car as you were no longer responsible for it.

If they say they don't have the car then indeed you'll need to probably call the police, if you have a lawyer I'd go talk to him first though.
