i have 2 student loans with the same company-sallie mae. the first is a consolidated unsubsidized loan at 9%. the second is a professional loan @ 12%. neither qualify for the 1-3% consolidation options now available. I've gone thru all forebearances and deferments...they're eating me alive! i've been paying these things for 15 years and have 15 more to go. i don't own a home so ..that's not an option. is there anything i can do?

Not quite in the same boat, but I haven't found an answer to that yet, am looking.
But, the money was there when I needed it, it helps on my taxes each year and I don't really mind writing that check once a month. They can't take my education away from me and I couldn't have done it without the loans.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
