    Secured Credit Cards

I have filed for bankruptcy, effective April 13th. I am listed as a No Asset. My 341 is set for May 27th.

Am I allowed to apply for a secured credit card? I will need to rent a car in the month of May, and I won't be able to rent one without a credit card. I do have a debit card attached to my bank account, but all the car rentals in my neighborhood insist on a credit card to be able to rent.

    Please advise? Thanks.

I have to think that if the debit card has a Visa logo on it, it should work as a credit card.
Only thing is that the account will be debited immediately.
At least this is what happened to me when i made a hotel reservation.
    Others might know better.
Much thanks for all the support and information I receive on this forum.

I don't know the answer as to applying for a secured card...however most rental places put a $500 hold on your card when renting a car, so if you don't have $500 in your checking account you will run into a problem. Couple months ago I was renting a car (thru Avis) and the guy in line in front of me, he was trying to us a debit card and did not have the funds for the hold so they said 'sorry, too bad' They wouldn't rent to him.

No, she's right, many rental places will NOT accept a deit, even if you have thousands of dollars in your account and even with the logo. Thrifty will not, I know that.

However, I do know that Advantage is debit-card friendly. THey will accept it for payment and for the $$$ hold of $300, with certain policies....more documentation.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your first question
