Credit problems due to chapter 7

    My first post
on december 3 2001 i have filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, it was discharged on March 18th, 2002. I have checked my credit report today and most of the bankruptcy accounts are still showing as past due, charge off, collection. what should I do, it seems to be a merry go round, the creditors are referring me to the credit bureaus and vice versa (I'm having a nervous breakdown) another thing, these creditors are still reporting on these accounts, last report as recent as 09/2005. I appreciate any advice I can get, Thank you.

You should dispute w/ the credit reporting agencies that the accounts are reported incorrectly.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

Have a read thru that...there's some links to sample letters for the credit bureaus in there too. You can also fill out forms online at the major credit bureaus, making it pretty easy to fix errors. I think they give 30 days after disputing for the creditor to explain...if they don't respond, it's fixed in your favor automatically.

Definitely read the rebuilding credit portion of this forum...

Pull all three credit bureau reports and compare. Be sure you send all correspondence as certified letters when disputing entries on your report.

Give them 30 days (your creditors) to update the credit bureau and then notify them again that they are breaking the law by not reporting properly.

You should start seeing a difference on your credit report within 30-45 days....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
