    how long does a record show for on report

    if i opened an account on feb 1/1997 should it be removed on feb 1/2004? (seven years) or is it from the last creditor update, that account was included in my bk in dec 2001, the last update was 09/2005 (recent) any chance i can have it deleted? please explain.thanx

    I think it will be removed seven years from Dec. 2001 when you filed bk. Legally, its supposed to be deleted seven years from first report of deliquency (negative information), so if you were late and it was reported prior to Dec. 2001 then it should be deleted 7 years from that point. But definately has to be deleted seven years from Dec. 2001. So it should go away Dec. 2008. If its not gone by then, I would dispute. Actually, I would dispute now, and see what happens wouldn't hurt.
