Authorized user on Credit Card question.
I had my mother who does not live with me, call up Discover and add me as an authorized user on her account so I could improve my credit. She called me back 5min later and said it was all set. They did not ask her for my social or address. Theoretically, she coulda said my son Babe Ruth and they woulda did it.
So whats the deal here. I read that Discover does indeed report AU on cards. How on earth are they gonna find me to report on it? When she gets the new card in the mail, do I call up and change the mailing info to my own? Then a few months later it magically appears?
And lastly, I have a security freeze on my account that expires in 60 days. Will that prevent this from even happening in the first place. I plan on mailing the big 3 the info they need to have it removed if thats the case.
