I have chosen to be very proactive when it comes to SL's. A week or so ago, I called Amer. Educational Servicing and asked them to send my loan to the department of education and immediately seek 15% wage garnishment. They said they had to "wait" until the loans officially default at 270+ days. I did make it clear that I would not repay these loans voluntarily. Since then, I have received no phone calls, but today I got a letter from the loan servicer saying they had the right to turn the loans over to the "guarantor," and this could lead to wage garnishment. I'll call them in a few minutes and beg them to get the process rolling. If you have not followed my other recent posts on this matter, then I should tell you that I am not the only one requesting SL administrative wage garnishment.
