The Ghost Of Tom Joad & New college grads 80% without jobs

Man walks along the railroad track
Hes goin some place, theres no turnin back
The highway patrol chopper comin up over the ridge
Man sleeps by a campfire under the bridge
The shelter line stretchin around the corner
Welcome to the new world order
    Families sleepin in their cars
    out in the southwest
No job, no hope, no peace, no rest, no rest!

And the highway is alive tonight
Nobodys foolin nobody is to where it goes
Im sitting down here in the campfire light
Searchin for the ghost of tom joad

He pulls his prayer book out of a sleepin bag
The preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag
Hes waitin for the time when the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box neath the underpass
With a one way ticket to the promised land
With a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand
Lookin for a pillow of solid rock
    Bathin in the cities aqueducts

And the highway is alive tonight
Nobodys foolin nobody is to where it goes
Im sittin down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of old tom joad

    Guitar solo

Now tom said; ma, whenever ya see a cop beatin a guy
Wherever a hungry new born baby cries
Whereever theres a fight against the blood and hatred in the air
    Look for me ma
    Ill be there
Wherever somebodies stuglin for a place to stand
For a decent job or a helpin hand
Wherever somebody is strugglin to be free
    Look in their eyes ma,
    Youll see me!

And the highway is alive tonight
Nobodys foolin nobody is to where it goes
Im sittin down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of tom joad.

And, for those that want to attack me, I'm a former member of the Georgia State Patrol, so I feel that I can comment, but of course I know someone will just say that I'm a conspiracy theorist posting lies about this, that and the other, but if y'all see this video about the OK State Trooper choking the EMT, y'all might think differently about how bad things are.

The economy is really bad here where I'm at, and I'm just depressed today.

This is why folks really should never have taken six digit student loans.

I was never able to attend college as a young man. My father made to much for me to qualify for help, but really we were kinda poor...this was many years ago, so I only attended one year of college.

I think my parents made a mistake they didn't want my brother and me working while we were in school so we did not have money when we left high school. My brother lost his job last year that had been sending him to school he has been going to school this year to finally get his degree, I have a cousin same age as me that lost his job last year as well (they worked at different plants). He too has been going to school this year in an attempt to get his degree after all these years.

The first place I think as a nation we need to look at is the visas we give out. If we have sufficient graduates to fill any area of employment we should immediately suspend visas for that job, as it is more prudent the jobs go to Americans than foreigners.

I worry about a lot of folks, here in my county fortunately they have not lost any teachers, however they cut assistance. Next door they lost 50 teachers. Used to teaching was a safe job but with the budget restraints and unfunded federal mandates the states are really squeezed.

I don't look for major improvement of the economy for at least a few years. Unemployment will continue to rise for at least another year.

I would suggest folks to start keeping gardens to help supplement their food. Even if in an apartment if you get sufficient light on the windowsill you should be able to grow a few plants to help feed yourself and cut down on food expenses.

JR, we are kind of in your parents position. Make way to much for help but didn't want them to work. Years ago I made great money but the wife was not working, we could not afford Prepaid tuition. I understand both sides.
