Student loan question

mindblown

I made a student loan 8 years ago. I was going to try college as a new student. I got the grants, loans etc.

I'm not sure if the financial aide office even got payment from the lenders. I had dropped out after deciding it was not for me within a few weeks. There was a partial refund for dropping the classes by the drop deadline. I was never recieved any bills from a bank or student loan office or anything. About a year later I got a call from a creditor representing the scholl saying I owed then 1200.00. I did not pay it as they could not tell me if that included the credit or not. I disputed the charges. I later filed bk and included the collection agency but never heard anything from them again. Theydo not send bills or anything.

I know student loans are not discharged but kind of wonder if this will come back to bite me. I mean they have not called or sent anything in years.

It was probably some type of unpaid tuition, especially if the collection agency was representing the school. In which case, the debt in question is not a student loan and therefore dischargeable in your bankruptcy.
