Did anyone have any of these cards?

Did you have any cards survive BK7? Did you call them to for warn?

    MACY
    WFFNB BRAND CARDS
    TARGET
    ORCHARD
    ROOMS TO GO (CITI FINANCIAL)

    or any others.

I had to included my secured VISA issued by USBANK, I was told by others there's not a chance in hell that it wont be cancelled.

I was told you have to have 1 TL open for 2 yrs after BK to purchase a home in a 2yr time frame.

I am trying to keep something for that reason. I called Target and they shut me down ASAP, said I can reaffirm and they would open a new account and send me out a new card.

Yes I had Maceys and Target, they did not survive BK because I included them in my BK, I wanted to clear the deck of cc's and get off the cc roller coaster. I could see no need in filing BK and keeping cc since they will no doubt cancel you anyway, I would imagine. No more cc for me, no matter what. I'm like the alcoholic when it comes to them. I have to admit I can't handle them, but I sure do love them, crazy as it sounds. It is a false security, very, very false. So not sure why you would want them to survive BK.

Oh sorry, I see why you were wanting one to survive bk. That I cannot answer. I would imagine if you reaffirm a card it would survive.

That's awesome that you can admit to that! Most people can't, and that's why they get in trouble!

Good luck with your cash free life!

Whats really frustating is, I a filed Bk Because of my Husband. I was trying to help him build credit and he maxed out every card I had. I had been thru the none managment and was able to avoid BK before. I learned how to use CC by paying off the balance monthly.

I never saw this coming, My minimums if I didn't pay the full balance was $10 and the highest was maybe $25. I managed to be valued as a person who knew how to pay there bills on time we (I thought) were working on Purchasing a house. But instead he settled maxing out CC for a cheap thrill.

I learned the hard way that his self distruction is always lurking. He destroyed my 2yr masterplan in less than 2 months.

I am completely familiar with your situation.

My ex-husband took out credit cards during our separation period, and went on one hell of a speding spree. I didn't find out about it until more than a year after the divorce when I was being sued.

People like this out to be beaten.

Even if you have no TL's to survive the BK, you should be able to open 2-3 shortly after and be ok. I've been researching, and different lenders have different requirements for how many lines you need to have, and there are some that only require 6-12 months worth of aging.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

We had WFFNB BRAND CARDS, and did not survive. They were actually REALLY mean!!!!!

We just erased all and are going to start fresh.....we will use the next 2 years to save up for our down payment for our house. I heard that you can get approved 1 day post discharge, but we are going to wait the 2yrs.

ALSO a big help is FHA loans, they consider "credit" as your payment history on your rent, utilities, etc. So if you keep up with those and apply for a FHA loan in 2 yrs you will be only 1 point higher than people with good credit, that's what we are waiting for.

                good luck to you

Tinroofrusted...I sure hope you meant that as "cc free" or "cash-only" life. Cash free sounds like no money or credit. Art

You will get offers for cc's after you are discharged. Wait for a decent one (secured or not...but if it's secured, check whether they report it as secured...some don't and that's much better) You want one witha "decent" interest rate. Having one w/ a really high int. rate will mean that you will only get offers from other sub-prime lenders.
When you are able, find a bank that will do a "secured loan" Deposit $500 - $1000 in a CD or savings acct. Use it as a collateral to pay off the loan in 6 months or so. Repeat.
I think that with a Bank CC and Bank loans that you won't have a problem getting a mortgage. If you think that you need a store card, you will be able to get one in not that long a period of time.
It just seems like a long period of time, because most of us are not used to living without credit and that and patience are two things we need to learn to avoid ending up here again. Best wishes, Art
