This was the month that I chose to start not making my credit card payments. I have 3 different cards from Chase, with a combined balance of around $40K total between them.
They have had the robo-caller turned on to me for about 3 weeks. I don't answer it, it goes to voice mail, and never a message.
Yesterday, I received a call from a phone call that I answered and it was a real-live human being calling. No robo-call, no message, just a very pleasant lady.
She told me that she was calling from Chase and had noticed that I had missed making my payments this month, and was everything all right? She stated that this was very unusual, that I had always made my payments on time, and was there anything that Chase could do to help.
I told her times were tough, money was tight, and gave her the sad story.
Her next comment was: What if we reduce your payments to a level that you could afford?
I did not want to commit, told her I would have to check my finances, etc. and she told me that as long as I had monthly income coming in, they would be more than happy to modify my payment schedule for at least a year.
At this time, the minimums have been around $800.00 monthly (combined), but with the late payments, I'm sure they have jacked up the interest.
She then told me: Name the payment that you can afford and we'll make it happen.
All this after only missing one payment........
(Too bad, but I'm not planning on making any more payments)
