    Corporate card post BK

Our Ch7 was discharged a year ago. I just accepted a new position with a start date of Nov 13th at a large technology company. The company does not pull a credit report as part of the background check, however it has come to my attention from a friend of mine who I will be working with that shortly after I start, I will be issued an Amex card (travel is infrequent, maybe 1-2 times a year). I am not sure if it shows on my credit report, but I do know that the company will reimburse for any charges and I am responsible for making the payments. I am also not sure if the company guarantees each card with Amex.

What happens if Amex pulls my credit and denies me a card...am I in jeopardy of losing my job? There was no mention of anything related to this in any of the pre-employment paperwork or job offer letter. Also, Amex was not a creditor in our BK.

    Thanks!

Greetings laurannm, good to see you back.

I doubt that the card will check your credit. It is a company card put into the employees name. My company did this as well. The ultimate responsible party is the company not you.

I would not worry about your company finding out about your bk. There are plenty you know that have bked. They won't care and "let your [own] light shine" as your performance is all they are concerned with. Now you've been around long enough to know all this, haven't you? LOL. Good to see you posting. Amex usually only denies corporate cards post-bk if you bk'ed on them.

They do pull your credit though to get the card, but the underwriting is more lenient than if you were to get an amex on your own.

If your credit score is still low or borderline, amex may limit the amount you can charge on the card, but will most likely still approve you.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under
