    Genenco,

HOW WELL I KNOW THAT FEELING!!!!

My girls "hit it" around 2:30 am...... and especially if they hear a "critter" outside on the porch or yard......

They about tear the doors down.....

Yep, a little chilly on a cold frosty morning..... when its around 12 degrees or so.....

Thank goodness the yard is fenced and I can just open the door and let them take off!!!

Then I spend 15 minutes waiting on them to quit barking and come back in - then have to dry their feet, etc.

What we don't do for our pets............... most of us wouldn't get up for our husbands or wives - but we will for the family pet...

    CHILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY !!

Dog walk done, it's now 20 degrees...Left leg aches, right leg numb..Good thing I found my old parka I bought in 1997 for $125..Worth every penny I assure you!

Yes, it also has a hood..From crotch up, comfy, but still ached...Oh well, doggies happy and crunching on bones..Debating calling and letting them know I'm coming in late..Fatigued and ill..Yes, I am sick and tired of this company

We ALL get tired of getting up and going to WORK!!!
I've been doing it for 40 years or more, Gosh that's a long time, isn't it!!!!
Going to work to me is just like "getting up a putting on your clothes of a morning" - do it daily!!!
Not often I stay home "sick" - have worked many days sick on the job..... Can cough at home and cough at work! A couple of times I have "took to the bed", though!! Pnemonia (can't spell) will sure make you lay down quick!!! You don't lay down, you fall down!!!

So off your A** and on your feet, and get it together this morning. Time to go pay the bills, feed the dogs, and get on with your day..... Don't work means -No money - means the bills get behind again....

Rise and shine and LOOK ALIVE....... its going to be another Great Day we have been granted.

        Just my thoughts this morning,
        Minny

Ummm..OK Minny, but too late.. Called in...No matter, only have 3-4 months (And that's at the best) with this company.

Believe it or not, one time I felt sick, but thought "OK, will go in" and wore a mask all day..

"Gene, why are you wearing that?"

"Because I am sick and in case it's infectious, I don't want YOU to catch it"

Damned if I didn't get a safety award and threatened by Boss "If feeling ill, stay home please!"

I really would have gone in, but had racking cough just after posting and other things and decided today wasn't a good day to risk it...

I'f I'm going to be sick (Sort of) I'll do it on a Friday or Monday!

(NOTE: I get sick pay, I might as well use it as the "Sick pay" bonus, I already lost out on. Yes, my company is willing to pay YOU an extra 10 or so hours if you never call in sick..But you know what? We've had people COLLAPSE AT WORK just for that "EXTRA Pay"!)

Yep, you got it, they didn't get it as they had to go to the hospital! So I don't even worry about no damn bonus..I'd rather sit at home and be close to the comfort I know.

(PH, BTW Minny, I have been trying to change attitude by saying to everyone (Everymoring) "Good Morning" though it may suck..Why? Hoping it helps me..So far..Well, it's only been a couple of weeks so far, but we'll see...Lousy cheap ^&*$%&#%^&%^*(& employers...Hmmmm..Need more work!)

My poopies get me up 4-5 times a night, well Kyra does (she's part Golden Retriever and something else) cuz she gets hot from her heavy coat and wants out to lay in the snow. So I get up to let her and Blaze out, check to make sure the car hasn't been repoed yet, let Blaze back in and go to bed. I might get 30 mins sleep before Kyra barks to be let back in. She's good as gravy for mebbee one hour and then wants back out again. During the warmer months we just leave the back door open 24-7 so they can come and go as they want into their fenced yard.

Right now its a balmy 18 F. I am *not* looking forward to my heating bill this month!

              Genenco,

I sitting here, coughing, snotting, choking, and WISHED I HAD STAYED IN THE BED THIS MORNING....... But ole dummy me said - you can make it today girl..... DUH - I FEEL LIKE CRAP!!!!!

Yeah there are some days that are just meant for "staying at home" - and today would have been a good one....

If I cough and choke enough, the boss just might say "You feel bad, why don't you go home!!" YEAH SURE, LIKE THAT WOULD HAPPEN...... Not around this place.....

There's days I love my job, and days I would like to kill everyone on the buiding..... they can be so rude and demanding (next generation)...... But it is "my bread and butter" and I'm thankfull that I'm employed and don't have that worry too......

              Someday - RETIREMENT - MAYBE......

Hey I hear you..I'm sure my Boss may make some crack about this.

I find it so funny at times. You get "Sick Pay" but you get penalized for using it and you can be fired also!

Sure, that in case of abuse, but gee whiz, what would you rather have? A employee sick as a dog and passing the germs around, or staying home and keeping production up to par?

Reminds when my company discontinued their "Bonus Game" for not calling in sick..Suddenly people started to realize "Why should I kill myself since I'm not getting "EXTRA" for showing up?

The company QUICKLY reinstalled the "Bonus Game" as they saw a 200% increase of people calling in sick..And surprisingly, not near weekends...

Not that I really worry about this whole thing....Like I said, 3-4 months and I leave anyway...Or earlier depending on how I feel

(BTW It was 18 degrees this morning while I walked doggies..But dug out major winter coat and had a good enough time, except for barfing earlier, which probably was from last nights dinner..But it sure tasted good!)

My boss pays "no-one" for being sick. He gives you two weeks vacation - if your out sick you have to use it...... He won't let you take it without pay either...

His attitude is "if I pay you for being sick" your going to be sick a lot!!!

One bad "run-in" with the flu or strep throat and your vacation is over...............

Went out this morning to feed Dixie and nearly busted my butt... The steps were slick. She is an outdoor dog, and its usually not below freezing here. Mornings like this though I have to take out luke warm water to thaw out her water bowl. (I'm sure its warmed up enough by now...)

it's like my wife tells me every time I tell her to stay home... "you don't work in the real world!". The closest "ice" story I have is that the ice-maker on my Maytag just quit. And sick leave? We get 96 hours per year. If you save over 48 hours it converts to annual but you never lose it and at retirement you get a check for up to 1000 hours of sick, 360 annual and 104 Holiday times your hourly rate. We were allowed up to 12 incidents (not days, one day is frowned on, a legitimate absence is three days, go figure) but the Union agreed to drop it to 8 incidents but then it would take about seven more steps to fire you and a Doctors note Monkey wrenches it all. the Supervisors Union still has the old twelve incidents. Literally, a typical call in is "cough, cough I'll be on my boat" and then everyone including the Supervisor starts thinking about leaving early. She's right I don't work in the real world...

On the other side, the work is hazardous, the chemicals that are atomized around us by cleaning Motors, HVAC's and metallic Rail Dust not to mention the fact that I was Diesel Mechanic in the same place for twenty years. I have spots on my hand from the poisons that have gotten in over the years, electrocution, one man crushed to death mean that you make allowances. Making schedule means that sometimes you work perilously close to third rail power and I've seen a moment of carelessness cause some pretty injuries, especially over the years seeing two excellent technicians check turbos and coming out minus a finger, painless at 40,000 rpm's. The DCA 4 used in Radiators years ago was one of the worst, very painfull and highly carcenogenic and no gloves were used. And please, they have trouble keeping up with gloves for 500 people, an excellent pair may last one day. disposable Latex are useless, Nitrile lasts longer but were never available at our old shop. The hazards are standard in the industry.

That is why I transferred to Rail, at least fewer chemicals, less oil and dirt. Literally, we talk everyday about the guys who (there are more than a dozen) who retired and died within two days. So yes, we have massively liberal benefits and are paid obscenely but there is a trade off in body damage.

Six years to go and by the Grace of God I retire at 53. I plan to do some other work and with the money possibly open a Colombian bakery in Tennessee. Who knows... maybe just do nothing, I don't think that is healthy though.

Forgot to add, we also spend the day in a massive electrical field so I guess we are a walking Tesla Coil... well maybe... perhaps I should wear one of those "balance" copper bracelets... To us, "The 700 Club" isn't run by Pat Robertson, it's what happens when you are well grounded and you put your hand in the wrong place. Ain't no "electrical hazard shoe" that can stop it, it ain't the seven hundred volts that kills, its that one stinking AMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a guy get his foot crushed (All agreed he was screwing around) and that's been the WORST thing ever..The doc saved it, but he got fired later anway...

Here's one thing...The main reason people are fired from my company...???

Sexual Harassment!! Yes, we do have many females and many are VERY pretty and/or beautiful. BUt frankly, If I see someone I'd be interested in, I'd appriach her at lunch and if she said "No thanks" I'd nod, smile and leave her the heck alone!!

Some guys can be so stupid!!

Gen, you wouldn't want ANY of the "female" primal beasts where I work. My Supervisors are intelligent guys that are fun to work with. As I am accomodating and not known as a "Milk Man" they are VERY accomodating for me ( I know I'm over eight incidents but I'll never hear about it) and I even rated an apology from the Chief for having to work Christmas Day. I changed classifications three years ago and first went through training, got my Certification signed off for High Voltage. I went to the bottom of another seniority roster so I knew the score coming in. Alot more guys have come behind me since though. Had i stayed where i was i could have ridden my bench in the transmission Shop 'til retirement AND DIED OF MENTAL FATIGUE. I was to high up to do Brake jobs and such unless i wanted to. I was seventeen out of 350 "lesser mortals". The pay is the same but I work on the ancient computers that run the train. I have no trouble with the Math, converting Hex to Binary and such. I love it, absolutely thoroughly love it. My wife says i am a new man. there are only 47 of us, we've all known each others for years, except for the Newbies to whom the positions have opened up. Unfortunately opening up those positions to unskilled grunt workers (rather than stand up to a lawsuit) has meant that of the 47 only about 30 are capable of performing. Just the other day two of the idjots wrote up a HVAC motor for replacement after spending 4.5 hours each trying to "fix it". I was told, "go look at this and see what's up". Twenty minutes later i had it running, to which I heard "those f'ing idiots!, wish we could fail all of 'em! Thanks, ______ (my name)."

We have alot of sexual harrassment problems though because there are female grunt workers on the floor now. As for the ones in the Office they are also primal beasts but are in some Harem for some higher up who thinks they are a gourmet dish. Trust me on this, you and i would not "sexually harass" anyone where I work, i would rather eat a maggot sandwich.
