    NYC Strike

As a TWU member I am glad to see that the NYC boys returned to work. Things are messed up as it is. yes, they have the right but since 9/11 you've gotta cut NYC some slack. Never a good time to strke, sometimes you may have to, but not now. The City has been wumped with a baseball bat, give some time. I understand that there are issues and that strikes draw a response, but this ain't the time.

Oddly, according to beginniing Pay scales, sites that i know of, the highest paid Rail Workers (as far as Electronic Techs.) aren't in NYC (though I'm sure with time they likely are). The highest in the Country for Step 10 are Miami Dade County and Los Angeles County, and the Highest is St. Paul Minneapolis I believe (about $32.00 pr hour). After that is NYC, Chicago, BART and Muni. Atlanta starting pay is dismal, around $15.00 per hour. They put ads up all the time (so they have high turnover, no wonder) in our place but no one will go there. As far as Bus Technicians it is NYC (there is more than one Transit carrier in NYC, though) and Miami Dade County, Florida at around 28.00 per hour. The highest paid directors, Miami Dade County Florida. Deputy Director $166,000.00, Director well over $200,000.00, unreal, beaureucrats, and they can't fix anything!

Well, I don't know. As long as they work the bosses can sit back and take their sweet time in offers and such. But have 250,000 screaming angry citizens calling your office DAILY and you become "Encouraged" to get the situation resolved.

Sure, 9/11 was a bad hit, but that was 4 years ago....
