    Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas All

It has been a great and not so great year. Hurricanes, damaged home, damaged vehicles, blessings galore, college beginnings and the first steps toward solvency and retirement and I made more money than i ever did before and spent more on kids Car, Insurance, College, ROTC and friends. Though I doubt retirement will be retirement, I'll be to young, so understand when i say retirement it will mean a change in life. 2006 promises to be a good year with God's Blessings and if he bestows continued health. The County is in the black (thanks to 3 years of double digit rising real estate values) and as we are the largest agency in the County the union is going for huge raises this year and the County is in the mood to give. Police and Fire are in line behind us waiting to see what we get, ET's make more than Cops here and slightly less than firemen. Hopefully my beloved GMC will be out of the body shop! It has been two months, the Hurricane put her on hold. She will be PAID OFF this year $30,000.00 down to ZERO!!!!

We went through some lean years long before debts or BK. Up until 1995 I kept all my boys in Private School and my wife stayed home and to this day she has never returned to being a Paralegal. We laugh about how the grapefruit tree in our old backyard was not a luxury. I loved that tree, she succmbed to the Citrus Canker hackers after i moved, she gave the most beautiful pink grapefruits you ever tasted. Looking back i can remember the kindness of Operation Blessing (Pat Robertson), I love those folks, and back in the late 80's and early 90's Cubans like Kuko who owned the SuperFood Center on Miami were the best people you could know. The two tow truck guys who towed my mother-in-law and wife home for free one nite and refused to be paid because "we got kids to". I was working, wherever they are, it was a long time ago but I hope heaven has repaid you ten times for that act, that's the kind of charity where "the rubber meets the road". In taking stock you can assume many things about a City because of the news you see coming from it, but I can tell that in the darkest and blackest holes in Miami i have met the most decent people. And in the best areas like Weston I have also met the most decent and good people also. My stepmothers bosses have treated her like family, they have been good to her over 20 years through thick and thin and two hip replacements and have bought her several brand new cars over the years. the last was a Mazda 626. There are alot of good people here, Anglo, Hatian, Cuban, Black American you name it. I have seen people snatched from bad situations by the most unlikely folks. As the Bible says "where sin abounds, grace does much more abound".

May you be at peace with the Trustee, may the BK be behind you and i hope and pray that order and solvency will follow you after it is over. A friend recently made his last CH. 13 payment to the Trustee and he has recieved over $3000.00 in refunds. His life has changed for the better and he is utterly debt free. it does end.

I will be working this Holiday, don't pity me, I get paid obscenely for it and won't be busy. My wife gets upset when we have to go in for hurricanes (whole families hole up at the Yard, it's a bunker) but it's like i tell her, "you enjoy the weekly trip to Publix, this is the trade off". My boys used to love eating that crappy catered food, now they serve hot meals even i like! Believe me, we ain't New Orleans, a storm's comin', things automatically roll into place, WE LEARNED THE FIRST TIME (since '26)!

    Merry Christmas All.

yeah, my posts are long, but i grew up in a house with a writer, so that's that.

same boat here Gen. Alot of "no shows" tonite. Sister-in-law exhausted from to much work and her husband is injured. They had the hotel and food paid by my father-in-law for Disney but could not afford to go. Think they are in depression. The damage from the Hurricane has really affected alot of people. With several hundred truckloads of debris removed from our 104 home complex we still have a three hundred foot long pile of debris in the complex, no exaggeration. People are giving "hurricane supplies" this year. We are going to fight the Insurance Company for a new roof. We lost no shingles but the high wind pushed the shingles up and now the wood got soaked. Unless you have seen a horizontal wind blow water under the eaves and into the attic you can't understand it. Our City does not allow you to "repair" a roof, in Welleby which is in sunrise it is new roof or nothing, there is no shingle replacing or carving out bad wood, etc...

People here are tired, wanting to move, unsure over the upcoming hosing we are going to get as far as insurance and property taxes on a Townhome are over 4000.00 per year for those moving into our complex. Unreal. If you don't move they can only rise three percent per year, so I'm staying put. I paid 86,000.00 in 2001, the last one sold for 263,000.00. Single family homes are running over 400,000.00 new. It is crazy and no letup in sight. We are out of land unless we encroach on the Federal wetlands lands to the west.

I will try and upload a pic of the current debris pile here, it is staggering. If Venezuela goes Communist, it has already but has not taken the whole plunge then Broward will be overrun. Venezuelans are not as friendly and down to earth as the Old crowd of Cubans who fled Castro. Already the new Venetian style development (Artesia, it is GORGEOUS) here in Sunrise has been bought out by them, 1256 square foot, two bdr. with a 709.00 per month maintenance is selling for over 400,000.00. Unreal.

Unreal, debris and they are still selling in a day. We have been told 6-12 months wait for the roof. They are selling WITH damage, people are coming up with 40,000 dollars like nothing to make up for the appraisal difference and bid wars are going on, it has been crazy for three years.

Oh well, enough SoFla stuff, it is still a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
