Merry Christmas All
It has been a great and not so great year. Hurricanes, damaged home, damaged vehicles, blessings galore, college beginnings and the first steps toward solvency and retirement and I made more money than i ever did before and spent more on kids Car, Insurance, College, ROTC and friends. Though I doubt retirement will be retirement, I'll be to young, so understand when i say retirement it will mean a change in life. 2006 promises to be a good year with God's Blessings and if he bestows continued health. The County is in the black (thanks to 3 years of double digit rising real estate values) and as we are the largest agency in the County the union is going for huge raises this year and the County is in the mood to give. Police and Fire are in line behind us waiting to see what we get, ET's make more than Cops here and slightly less than firemen. Hopefully my beloved GMC will be out of the body shop! It has been two months, the Hurricane put her on hold. She will be PAID OFF this year $30,000.00 down to ZERO!!!!
We went through some lean years long before debts or BK. Up until 1995 I kept all my boys in Private School and my wife stayed home and to this day she has never returned to being a Paralegal. We laugh about how the grapefruit tree in our old backyard was not a luxury. I loved that tree, she succmbed to the Citrus Canker hackers after i moved, she gave the most beautiful pink grapefruits you ever tasted. Looking back i can remember the kindness of Operation Blessing (Pat Robertson), I love those folks, and back in the late 80's and early 90's Cubans like Kuko who owned the SuperFood Center on Miami were the best people you could know. The two tow truck guys who towed my mother-in-law and wife home for free one nite and refused to be paid because "we got kids to". I was working, wherever they are, it was a long time ago but I hope heaven has repaid you ten times for that act, that's the kind of charity where "the rubber meets the road". In taking stock you can assume many things about a City because of the news you see coming from it, but I can tell that in the darkest and blackest holes in Miami i have met the most decent people. And in the best areas like Weston I have also met the most decent and good people also. My stepmothers bosses have treated her like family, they have been good to her over 20 years through thick and thin and two hip replacements and have bought her several brand new cars over the years. the last was a Mazda 626. There are alot of good people here, Anglo, Hatian, Cuban, Black American you name it. I have seen people snatched from bad situations by the most unlikely folks. As the Bible says "where sin abounds, grace does much more abound".
May you be at peace with the Trustee, may the BK be behind you and i hope and pray that order and solvency will follow you after it is over. A friend recently made his last CH. 13 payment to the Trustee and he has recieved over $3000.00 in refunds. His life has changed for the better and he is utterly debt free. it does end.
I will be working this Holiday, don't pity me, I get paid obscenely for it and won't be busy. My wife gets upset when we have to go in for hurricanes (whole families hole up at the Yard, it's a bunker) but it's like i tell her, "you enjoy the weekly trip to Publix, this is the trade off". My boys used to love eating that crappy catered food, now they serve hot meals even i like! Believe me, we ain't New Orleans, a storm's comin', things automatically roll into place, WE LEARNED THE FIRST TIME (since '26)!
Merry Christmas All.
yeah, my posts are long, but i grew up in a house with a writer, so that's that.
