Does any of your close friends or relatives know about your BK? If so, what do they think of you?

My little sister (the one I trust) knows, but not the details. I don't want my mother to know. My oldest stepson knows, and I told his mother, because I knew she would find out anyway. But no details. I told my best friend for life (girlfriend, very close like sisters) and I told my best friend at work and his secretary, also my friend (because she reads all the bks in the paper and I wanted to take the fun out of her seeing my name, lol). I also told my boss at the real estate office because I felt she needed to know why I was slowing down during the looooooong wait for my discharge (since I filed on 8/12/05 and am still waiting).
I told those I felt needed to know. The others? They can go to H@@@.

I told my brother, him and I are close....I told my best friends. They are tight on money so they can COMPLETELY understand. my nieghbors who have filed BK before also, so they can't judge me...LOL

Oh yaeh we told our landlord...we have been here for 7years, they are cool. They let us pay our lawyers fee, and put off rent for the month of sept, so we can file in time. They are young and let us get away with alot.

I didn't tell my parents until 2 weeks ago, and the only reason I did, was cause we need their extra car to use....ours died. We are turning it in on Monday (we didn't reaffirm). So I broke down and told them. It took a week for my mom to finally talk to me,..she was mad...Oh well..over and done now...LOL

bk isnt any big thing anymore. its too bad your mom doesnt know. oh well never mind that and move on. everything is good now!

To me some things are personal. This is one of them. I am generally very open but this was a hard decision and not one I wanted to have to hear grief over or be judged about (thats what we all had lightening for) but most of all because I just don't want to listen to alot of hypocritical remarks, ya know? I'm not ashamed, I just don't need to hear the well if's. I made my choices and am dealing witht them and can take those consequences for them.

Told no one except my DH, the attorney and my BIL is aware but that is because DH told him and BIL filed bk many years ago. As much as I love my nearest and dearest friends, we don't talk much about finances, never have so just didn't seem to be the thing I wanted to do. I would tell them if it came up though.

My family knows. My mom & dad filed years ago, back when they used to come to your house to check to see what you may/may not be hiding, etc. (Such as furniture not paid for, etc.) I realize that BK wasn't my most proudest moment in my life, but, it has certainly taught me some lessons so I don't end up in the same situation again.

Its extremely personal. I think its really no one business, except for those who you request to loan money, or go into a close partnership or relationship, business, marriage, or otherwise.

only my closest friends and family know. One family member looks down on me for it- won't say so, but I can tell nonetheless. Screw 'em! It was the right thing for me to do, and that's that.

My family knows dh's family has no idea. My close friends know, my "friends on the street" have no idea.

My husband knows and my boss.........I did tell one of my close friend cause she was in the same boat as I she filed a few years ago.
I don't want anyone else to know especially my BIL he's soo0o judgmental <---is that a word?? told my hubby not to breath a word to him but a lot of people will know sooner or later when it comes out in the Newspaper...........ARGHHH..........OOOOO I dread that cause lots of people know me (cause of my job) and I live in a very, very small community.

Talk to my lawyer yesterday she said BK ain't so bad these days not like years ago.

My MIL knows-she was supportive. Agreed it was the only way to move forward, due to DH's judgement issue. The main people I socialize with are my sister & her family, and a couple who are friends w/ us & my sister. They all know. That couple filed BK last year, after they bought a new house and were unable to sell the old one. After about 6 months, they couldn't keep the double payments and the old house eventually went to foreclosure.

I told my Mom and my Mom told my brother. I didn't feel that it was truly anybody's business. I have never really cared what other people think. If someone finds out and forms an opinion, good for them because I probably saw their info on pacer. I saw my ex-best friend on pacer go figure, she didn't bother to tell me.

Filing BK is a personal issure and a personal deicison we all make.....

Sometimes you have to DO what you HAVE TO DO to survive.

Many more people would file bankrutpcy if they would look at their situations - and see no end results......
But they would rather - hold onto their Pride, hide behind their embarrassment, and destroy their homes and families TRYING to make ends meet.....

Financial problems can destroy a marriage and a family....Bankruptcy can bring you closer together (trying to solve the problem together).

Bankruptcy can save a marriage and family, your Pride will heal - the Embarrassment will go away - and the Stress in your life will end.... all the problems that break up a marriage and home.

Not seeing the need to file bankruptcy can destroy a family - filing can keep it together....
