judgement vs. garnishment

All this legal stuff is so confusing to me. Even though our bankruptcy is complete, I find myself so scared that something else will pop up that I forgot or didn't know about. Anyways, as I've been reading, I see lots of mention about judgements and have no clue what they are or what they entail? How do you find out one was rendered? We had a garnishment on my husband's wages, is this the same thing? Sorry, like I said, I understand so little.
