Hi, need help FAST!!! What do we need to include in a letter to release an attorney's services? Need to get the letter wrote tonight, if someone can help out with suggestions!!
Just a simple letter including your name, address, etc and stating that as of this date his legal services are no longer needed regarding your bankruptcy or etc.......
Just state that "this is notice of legal services no longer needed" and that's all you need to say.... other than thank him for his time....

Do I really have to THANK him???? I think I would rather sue him for his lack of defending his client's best interest. Actually, hubby wrote a very short and sweet letter releasing him (did this last night). Thinking about filing a grievence towards him. Many things dealing with the unknown child issue that we have found out that should have been dealt with and he did nothing. Just sat back and raked in the money. The worst part of this is that he is also our bk atty! I would love to add him to our bk, but I think it is too late. Got our discharge on Dec 29, 05. Oh, well, he will enjoy watching that nice fat check coming across his desk anyway. It just stinks that our part of the refund that we get to keep will not totally cover what we owe him plus a retainer for a new atty. That puts the checkbook at a neg $51! And, I haven't bought groceries yet....
As for the atty.....he has been officially released now. I took the short and to the point letter G wrote, copied it and the check that stated he was paid in full along with services fully released wrote in the memo, made a copy of both, stapled them together and handed them to the recep at the office. The atty called G about an hour later and was very short with him in the process of finding out that he was released. Didn't even have the guts to ask G why he was releasing him!
So, there is now a check in the mail to retain another atty (one we have already had a consult with) and hope this is a step in the right direction! We meet with this one next Friday (10th) and depending on what he has to say as to what has transpired (or lack of) for the last year and a half, we will file a grievance towards this one.
Is it a hard process to get done? Never had to do that and don't have a clue as to how to go about it. I really do wish you the best with your issue!
Just go online to the govt offices for your state.... contact the Attorney Generals office..... send them a memo that you have a grievance against an attorney and want to know where to file it (if you can find the correct place on the govt site)... Also you can call too to get the proper address and paperwork.....
Not a big issue, but gets results................. they sure don't want too many complaints against them... they get investigated too quickly and easily..... law liscense at risk!!!
Good luck, keep me posted.
